Web Developer and Programmer

At CanSTEM Education, I progressed from a part-time User Experience Designer into a full-time Web Developer and Programmer. My work combines UX strategy, front-end development, WordPress, internal systems, LMS operations, SEO, performance optimization, digital administration, and responsive interface development.

Web Developer and Programmer

I design, develop, maintain, and optimize high-performance websites and digital platforms focused on usability, accessibility, responsiveness, speed, and scalability. I contribute to public-facing and internal systems while improving technical SEO, Core Web Vitals, maintainability, and platform reliability.

User Experience Designer

Permanent part-time · March 2024 – March 2026 · Toronto, Ontario, Canada

I spearheaded the redesign and continuous improvement of CanSTEM Education’s website to create a more usable, accessible, modern, and consistent digital experience. I contributed to enrollment workflows, LMS improvements, service design, WordPress development, responsive interfaces, and user-centred platform decisions aligned with school goals.

Where I contributed

Website development

  • Build and update responsive pages with WordPress, Elementor Pro, Astra, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Improve navigation, content hierarchy, cross-device layouts, and visual consistency.
  • Replace weak page-builder sections with cleaner custom implementations where appropriate.
  • Support production deployment, troubleshooting, maintenance, and content migration.

UX and product design

  • Review user journeys, information architecture, forms, navigation, labels, and content clarity.
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and design directions with Figma and FigJam.
  • Apply user-centred and service-design thinking to enrollment and student workflows.
  • Balance student, staff, front-desk, and administrator requirements.

Enrollment and student systems

  • Support enrollment portal planning, onboarding, submissions, and admin review patterns.
  • Improve digital forms, response handling, dashboards, and workflow automation.
  • Organize practical digital processes across students, teachers, front desk, and administrators.

LMS and Moodle

  • Manage courses, users, quizzes, access, troubleshooting, and student administration.
  • Improve LMS usability and visual quality without disrupting active courses.
  • Create more practical workflows for students and staff.

SEO and performance

  • Improve metadata, headings, internal links, alt text, crawlability, indexing checks, and landing-page structure.
  • Use Search Console, Analytics, SEMrush, and Google Ads setup to support informed search visibility work.
  • Optimize images, caching, scripts, layout stability, page speed, and Core Web Vitals.
  • Configure and troubleshoot WP Rocket, Breeze, Cloudways performance, and object caching.

Technical operations and accessibility

  • Support Cloudways, GoDaddy, DNS, SSL, domains, hosting, deployments, GitHub, and production maintenance.
  • Administer Google Workspace accounts, email groups, and user support.
  • Apply semantic headings, focus states, labels, readable contrast, keyboard support, and reduced motion.
